You can draw with a number of tools. Botsy’s Pen Holder allows for a drawing tool with a diameter ranging from 0.35″ to 0.86″ (9mm to 22mm). Sharpies, whiteboard markers, chalk markers, industrial-grade Sharpies, glass pens, and washable markers all work. Botsy operates with a variety of pens, pencils, and markers. Popular sets can be found in retail stores, specialty hobby stores, and on online marketplaces.
Choose your marking instrument based on the surface type, such as paper, painted drywall, plywood, or a concrete wall. When writing on uneven surfaces, choose a marker with a robust tip to keep its shape and avoid turning into a “mushroom.” Bullet-tip markers, not chisel tips, should be used.
Botsy cannot print or color. The purpose of the wall drawing machine is to provide you with a technique of accurately, quickly, and comprehensively outlining your vector artworks.
Mural painters, woodworkers, and do-it-yourselfers may all benefit from this productivity tool, and everyone can benefit from the increased inspiration it provides. In other words, it is not meant to replace humans.
Botsy is your drawing tool that lets you make complicated wall drawings quickly and accurately like never before. No more limits—just pure creative freedom. Whether you’re a pro or just starting.
The final products include artwork such as hand-painted murals, hand-cut wood pieces, stained glass, and hand-made signs. Finally, the fact that you made it increases its worth due of your efforts. Botsy helps with efficiency, speed, and accuracy on a large scale.
The artists put the finishing touches on the office murals by hand coloring the images, as shown in these illustrations. The wall drawing machine increased the size of the graphics in a completely automated manner.
There is no power on my job site. How should I proceed?
The drawing robot comes with a 12 volt desktop power adaptor. If there is no power at your job site, you can utilize a battery adapter or battery power connector. One alternative is to use the batteries from an existing power tool as a 12V or 18V DC power source for Botsy.
The adapter should be compatible with the battery connector type on your power tool.
You can either buy one on your own or order one from us.
A power bank is another option for powering the drawing robot. Botsy, for example, can work for 3 hours on this 72W, 100Wh, 12V, 8300mAh portable battery pack. The battery pack is small and easy to carry.
This option costs between $50 and $60.
Botsy is attached on the wall with 3M Command Strips. 3M recommends applying their product on smooth, sealed, finished surfaces such as painted, stained, or varnished wood, glass, painted cinder blocks, plaster, metal, and painted walls. Before utilizing 3M Command products, 3M recommends that fresh paint be thoroughly cured (see the paint can for the manufacturer’s cure time).
We propose utilizing Botsy Adjustable Poles to lean the wall drawing robot against any other surface. For rough surfaces, see How do I physically attach Botsy?
It all depends. For rough surfaces like as cinder blocks, spatter, orange peel texture, inexpensive plywood, and outside-textured walls, we offer a special Botsy Pen Holder. If you intend to draw on rough surfaces, use the Rough Surface Pen Holder. Botsy Adjustable Poles are also recommended as an attaching option. To draw on such surfaces, utilize markers with a sturdy tip.
Botsy is not able to sketch on brick or severe stucco. Send us a picture of your wall texture if you are unsure.
There is no need for any tools, such as screws or nails, to set up or take down the device. Popular 3M Command Strips allow you to temporarily mount Botsy on a wall, whiteboard, plywood, or other surface. Our patented design ensures the drawing machine can be mounted on a wall and removed quickly, without leaving any marks or requiring any tools. As soon as the artwork is complete, the hangers can be removed without leaving any marks on the wall (such as nail holes or cracked plaster).
It doesn’t take much time at all to get the thing set up. It’s easy to remove the 3M Command Strips when you’re done with the artwork.
2nd Method: Lean Botsy Against the Wall
Use our Botsy Adjustable Poles in place of 3M Command Strips to lean the horizontal track carrying the drawing robot against a wall. Muralists who want to paint on large outdoor walls or sketch on rough surfaces should follow this technique. Extras consist of two 12-foot-long adjustable poles that can be used in a variety of configurations. Botsy can be moved in blocks, allowing artists to quickly cover large areas and create sketches up to 12 feet in height. You can outline anything with Botsy by simply extending the poles.
The photos show the Botsy system attached indoors, leaning against a wall outside, and a custom-made drawing system with an easel.
You certainly can. Botsy’s software includes a pause button. You can pause the drawing at any time to replace a marker, change the color of the drawing, and so on.
Botsy only uses one color at a time when drawing. Pause the robot while sketching and change markers to create a multi-color effect. The vector file can also have multiple layers and switch markers between drawings.
For example, in the image below, one layer was outlined with an orange marker and another with a dark blue marker. Botsy transferred the images as well as the horizontal and vertical letters flawlessly.
The machine drew colorful lines around the image and the text. The robot was paused at this point so that the markers could be switched out. The artist then hand-colored the remaining elements of the artwork.
